A duo exhibition facing realities and raising awareness on mental health
As artists continue to illustrate and confront brutal truths in our world since before and after 2020’s harsh realities, there has been a noticeable spike in awareness and accessibility of mental health services in New York City and beyond. Although art therapy can be viewed to activate mental well-being and positive affirmations, this duo exhibition of contemporary works dive into personal thoughts and ideas on the benefits or taboos in one seeking mental health. Is therapy a welcomed or foreign practice to you? How do you meditate and work through personal issues? Selected artists are presenting their thoughts into this dialogue as we hope to continue our revival from prevalent or subtle traumas that may still need addressing in this fast paced society.
“From an artists’ mind, creating to affect change in ourselves and those around us is something we flawed humans do naturally. I’m under the belief that once you embrace what brings joy into your life, no matter the scale, many great things can follow”. - Curator Adrian Bermeo
